Spring and summer are the seasons of many charity fundraisers such as bike rides, runs and walks to raise money for various medical charities. Money is important and contributes to research which will help save lives. However, equally as important is the increased awareness for various illnesses that these events bring about. The awareness may lead people to recognize the early warning symptoms of various illnesses and speak to their doctors. One way in which awareness is raised when participants wear T-Shirts. Some events request that their participants where Blank T-Shirts of the same colour and others have T-Shirts specially printed for the event.
For example, next week the popular British Heart Foundation Hearts Over the Edge Bike Ride will take place across the South Pennine Moors. It is the 10th anniversary of this popular race. Participants are being asked to wear white or red Blank T-Shirts as they pedal through Northern England. Imagine the statement that the sea of T-Shirts will make on the spectators of the race.
Another popular fundraiser is the Race for Life which raises money for cancer research. Many participants in the Race for Life chose to wear Race for Life T-Shirts, vest tops or baseball caps while they are participating in the race. The money from the sale of the merchandise goes toward cancer research and the merchandise can be worn long after the race to promote awareness for the event and early cancer detection.
Even if you don’t participate in either event, you might consider wearing the appropriate T-shirt on the day of each race in support of the charity’s mission and the race participants.
