Next time you wear your polo shirt, notice the logo of the single horseman. This logo is under dispute in the US because the US Polo Association's logo is similar. This similarity is due to the desire to have polo players on their garments since they are the main organisation for the sport of polo in the United States. Chron.com reports that Polo has lost the battle in preventing the US Polo Association to use the horseman with whacking ball in their logo. Everyone is familiar with Polo Ralph Lauren's logo but the Polo Association has two polo players on horseback rather than Lauren's one horseman. The association also has "USPA" underneath their two polo players logo on their clothing. Ralph Lauren feels that this infringes on their logo and the Polo Association's polo shirts may be mistaken for Polo Ralph Lauren.
Last week, the court did not overturn the 2005 decision concerning three out of four of the association's logos infringe on Ralph Lauren. This feud between Ralph Lauren and the Polo Association has been going on since the 80s and it still is a problem. The association hopes that this time Ralph Lauren will back down and allow them to continue with their logos in peace.
