The Advertising Specialty Institute reports that Anvil Knitwear of New York City, US has unveiled a new line of shirts, recycled t-shirts. These shirts are being called AnvilRecycled T-shirts and they are made completely with pre-consumer cloth. This is another earth saving advancement in the eco-friendly shirt industry. These shirts are made with pre-consumer recycled cotton blend. First, they separate the cloth into like colours. Then they take the cloth and clip them. These clippings are then chopped into fine pieces. The fine pieces are turned into linty material, which is made into yarn.
Taking already made cloth and turning it back into manufacturing material saves energy because it cuts down on the process of taking cotton and making it into yarn. It also saves on resources since they do not need to import cotton from different parts of the world. Elimination of dyes because the colour is already present in the cloth is also earth friendly.
Anvil Knitwear started their eco-friendly shirt sales last year with their AnvilOrganic shirts. These shirts were a big success. AnvilRecycled T-shirts are even more eco-friendly and are sold for an affordable price. Sizes range from XS to 4XL so they are perfect for the entire family.
