Welsh Rugby Union reports that on New Year’s Day the Dragons will wear a blue charity kit to help raise money for the Teenager Cancer Trust. These blue shirts will be auctioned off after the game and all money raised will be donated to the TCT to help with the £3.4 million project to open a new facility in ‘Skypad’ or Welsh. These facilities help children live longer and survive their cancer by giving these teens specialised care. This will be the first of its kind in the Welsh area which will be able to help many children who were unable to receive this treatment before. The team is touched by the opportunity to take part in this charitable donation. Many of the team members have known someone who has passed because of cancer and this gives them a chance to honour their loved ones and help the teenagers. Cancer can grow quickly in a teenager’s body because of their increased development during puberty. Due to this, it is important for teenagers to quickly get the care that they need so that they have a fighting chance at beating the cancer. Treatment for cancer is expensive and the Dragon team members hope that the response to the auctioned shirts will be high so that a large amount can be donated to this cause.
The shirts will be up for auction after the game at the TCT website at www.teenagercancertrust.com. You can find more information about this charity and donate without participating in the auction through the TCT site.
