Mondonation and Elizabeth Arden Auction T-Shirts for Charity

Wednesday 12th of December 2007 06:30:24 PM

Mondonation and Elizabeth Arden Auction T-Shirts for Charity Vancouver Sun reports that the Vancouver designer Mondonation designed a t-shirt in 2006 with the word ‘Believe’ in lime green with a pink ‘i’. Coincidentally, Elizabeth Arden a seller of Britney Spear's ‘Believe’ perfume designed a t-shirt almost identical to the ones Mondonation had already designed. The shirts by Elizabeth Arden were to be given away to people for free for every perfume purchase made. By the time the company of Elizabeth Arden was notified of the Mondonation t-shirts 10,000 t-shirts were already manufactured to be given away. Instead of destroying all of the t-shirts, Mondonation and Elizabeth Arden have agreed to auction off the t-shirts on eBay. All of the proceeds from the t-shirts will go to three charities that both parties have agreed upon, Make a Wish Foundation, Autism Speaks and the Burlington, Ontario high school project. Those who win the auction will also receive a signed iPod by Britney Spears and other gifts. These t-shirts have been available for auction since December 7, 2007.

Instead of having an uber legal battle, Elizabeth Arden accepts that the t-shirts are the same and is helping Mondonation’s exposure. A link will be provided on the auction site that will lead people to the Mondonation website and they are adding a tagline on the auctioned t-shirts that reads ‘for your personal belief, visit www.mondonation.com'. The auction should raise a minimum of $65,000 and if it doesn’t, Elizabeth Arden agrees to make up the difference so that at least $65,000 will be awarded to charity.
