On November 30th, Showbiz reports that vintage rock t-shirts will be selling for up to $4,000 USD. These shirts will be from the 60s and 70s from bands like Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Who and the Yardbirds. There will be 30 band t-shirts for sale from Christie's in New York that are in good condition. It is amazing that these t-shirts have come this far since many never thought they would be worth anything in the future. The t-shirt that will be selling for the most will be a yellow Yardbirds t-shirt. This shirt was owned and worn by Greg Shaw. Greg Shaw was a rock journalist who attended the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival.
The reason why these shirts will be auctioned off for such a high price is because even though they are not one of kind there weren't many manufactured so there are only a few. Most of them have been thrown out so the ones that remain are what collectors are seeking. You won't find shirts like this anywhere.
Many of the shirts were owned by different owners and mostly by crew members of the bands. At the end of the month, these shirts will be auctioned off at the Rock and Pop Memorabilia Auction in the United States where many more items from the era will be sold.
