Non-Profit Organisation to Continue Providing Garment Printing Jobs

Human Technologies, located in Utica, New York, USA, a non-profit organisation that provides people with disabilities jobs mostly in the garment printing and textile business, recently signed a new contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The five-year contract includes the manufacturing of over eighteen thousand new uniforms for park and wildlife personnel and law enforcement.

The company, which also has manufacturing plants in other parts of the US, creates T-Shirts, hats, and provides various sewing and embroidery services as well. With this new contract, employees will be able to learn new skills which can then be used to obtain additional contracts from companies and government agencies.

Being able to give those who have disabilities a chance to earn a living is important to many of the people who work for the company. "I’m thrilled about it. It’s times like this when jobs are so limited, we get this large contract, it means I’m guaranteed a job,” said one employee, Leao C. Tyler.

Human Technologies employs about three-hundred people, most of whom have some type of disability. With the new contract, the company will be able to increase their employee numbers and hire an additional one-hundred people. “I think it’s absolutely significant,” said Rick Sebastian, president and chief executive officer of Human Technologies.
