Sending T-shirts to Troops in Iraq

Monday 22nd of October 2007 08:22:29 PM

Sending T-shirts to Troops in IraqBecause so many families in the UK have relatives in Iraq, Judith Bray, whose son is on his second tour, is bringing hope and happiness to soldiers and families alike by organising the 'Boost the Troops Challenge'. The challenge is simple. Every two months families will send over items they have decorated themselves to loved ones fighting in Iraq. If the packages all arrive around the same time, soldiers will be able to feel love and support not only from their own families, but from other families as well.

This month, families have been asked to buy Blank T-Shirts and decorate them in any fashion they wish. Sending the shirts out at the same time is the real challenge as is handling them out to soldiers once the shirts arrive in Iraq.

"I think it will be a fun thing for the families. It will keep relatives occupied for a week and so help at this end, and for the troops. I think people don't understand that just getting a parcel will send them absolutely over the moon. Imagine the troops' faces when they all see that their mates too have got personalised T-Shirts," said Bray.

Because troops will be moving from one providence to another in the next few weeks, it is important to let the soldiers know that their families care about them. "These types of offers of support are warmly welcomed by everyone in the military and the soldiers themselves. It brings with it some logistical issues which we will have to overcome but we will do our best," said a spokesperson for the army.

In December, Bray will announce the next item families should send to their loved ones.
