US Clothing Company Tries to Reduce Carbon Footprint to Zero

Friday 21st of September 2007 02:30:01 AM

US Clothing Company Tries to Reduce Carbon Footprint to ZeroIn an effort to reduce its impact on the environment, US clothing manufacturer, Dussault Apparel Inc., located in Los Angeles, California, has partnered with Carbonfund.org to launch its new Carbon Conscience Program. By changing the way the company manufacturers, ships, and disposes of waste, Dussault hopes to create a ‘cradle to grave’ carbon imprint of zero in the near future.

Dussault will be switching to biodegradable boxes, tags, and shipping materials, and will be using natural dyes when producing T-Shirts and other clothing. The Carbon Conscience Program includes milestones to be evaluated over a period of time. This should help reduce the carbon footprint left by the company and help bring more awareness to environmental issues including air pollution, chemical contamination, and other issues.

“We are thrilled to have Dussault Apparel step up to be the very first apparel company to offer certified CarbonFree products. Their leadership on climate change sets an example for others to follow, and we thank them for joining us in our mission to fight global climate change,” said Steve Offutt, COO, Carbonfund.org.

Carbonfund.org was created to help companies like Dussault Apparel makes changes in how they create their products in order to better serve consumers and the environment. Since clothing companies are major contributors to a variety of environmental concerns including water and air pollution, teaching companies how to manufacture T-Shirts and other clothing safely and in a cost effective manner is important.
