Reinventing the Polo Shirt

Monday 17th of September 2007 10:41:35 PM

Reinventing the Polo ShirtPolo Shirts are once again a fashion must-have for anyone who dreams of living a carefree lifestyle. But with so many designers to choose from including old favourites like LaCoste and Ralph Lauren, breaking into this market is nearly impossible. However, one young designer from the US is trying to make a name for himself nonetheless. After completing a business marketing course while studying biology at the University of South Carolina, Allen Stephenson left to pursue a career in shirt making. While his Polo Shirts, which sell under the label Southern Tide, are similar to others on the market, there are differences that consumers will notice.

Before launching his clothing line, Stephenson created a few polo shirts and compared them with others on the market including LaCoste and Burberry to make sure his shirts met with the standards of other quality shirts. They did, and so Stephenson began to sell his shirts locally to businesses in Charleston, South Carolina, USA.

Even though Stevenson’s shirts are made of quality materials that keep wearers cool, include double-stitched buttons, double-stitched arm holes, and are longer than other Polo Shirts, competition is fierce when going against trusted brand name clothing. But this has not stopped Stephenson from adding to his clothing line with a collection of khaki pants and hats that will be available soon.
