Tennis Player Roger Federer Classy on the Court

Even though most people watch tennis matches because of the excitement, the clothing players wear has also become an attraction. One tennis pro who is in the spotlight is Rodger Federer. Wearing mostly Polo Shirts and clean shorts, Federer maintains a classic look on and off the tennis courts.

“He's got it all going on. He wears clothes that are emblematic of age and status. He does not dress too old or too young, too stuffy or too trendy. He's solid, smart and handsome," said Men's Vogue editor Jay Fielden.

While some tennis pros wear baggy clothing and oversized T-Shirts, Federer’s style has been compared to golf star Tiger Woods. “Roger has an effortless style that is classic and iconic. His cool efficiency on the court carries over to the way he dresses and we played off that, especially in designing his evening on-court attire,” said Nike's head of global tennis apparel, Gill Brown.

Until recently, it was the women of tennis whose clothing and overall look were scrutinised, but now, the men are also being judged. Looking professional shows competence and a seriousness that may not be seen when players wear baggy, shapeless T-Shirts and shorts.

In the end, it is the player’s performance that counts, but for many tennis fans, how a player presents themselves, is more important than ever.
