After spending a summer working in a wildlife sanctuary, Julian Prolman, from Novato, Maine, USA decided to he would make a difference in the world by helping people and the environment. In a small village near the wildlife sanctuary, Prolman invested US$5,000 to hire villagers to produce T-Shirts that would be sold to raise money for the village and for a nonprofit agency called the Global Security Institute, which is trying to end the development of nuclear weapons all around the world.“It's a way to let people who want to be activists express themselves. Being over there definitely opened my eyes. I believe everyone has the right to a good life. I really want to help people out,” said Prolman of his new business venture, which is named ‘Ministry of Tomorrow’.
By selling printed t-shirts bearing positive messages promoting peace, Prolman is not only giving people jobs and giving some of the proceeds to a worthy charity, he is also giving other people a chance to help by purchasing a t-shirt. “There are so many superficial things in the world, but this was real. It will give jobs to people, including providing rangers who will help keep poachers from the elephant population. There are so many issues that affect us on this planet,” said Prolman.
With help from another nonprofit organisation, Wildlife Works, Prolman has been able to ship over two-hundred T-Shirts to the US so far. Wildlife Works helps villages like the one Prolman is helping by encouraging job growth while protecting the environment. “He really got in there and saw what it takes to make one of his products. Rarely do we see someone make the investment of visiting the factory to see first-hand how things work. To see a 19-year-old do it was rather refreshing,” said Wildlife Works founder, Mike Korchinksy about Prolman’s efforts.
