Last month, Mattel announced it will be collaborating with clothing manufacturer Mighty Fine to launch a fall children’s clothing collection featuring Barbie. The clothing line will include T-Shirts and knit tops that feature the famous doll."The Barbie brand has established itself as a worldwide fashion leader and we are very excited about this new collaboration. Barbie has been a reflection of nearly every fashion trend and our collection is a celebration of Barbie's long standing history of influencing the fashion community,” said Justin Watson, Marketing Director, Mighty Fine.
Mattel and Mighty Fine will also create a line of vintage Barbie T-Shirts for adults as well as baby clothes and toddler pieces. “Mighty Fine brings unique fashion sensibility and a trend-directed, savvy designs that complement Barbie® doll's heritage in fashion and Fisher-Price's category leadership among toddlers and infants. Our partnership with Mighty Fine extends Mattel Brands' already glowing presence in the apparel category,” said Richard Dickson, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Media and Entertainment, Worldwide, Mattel Brands.
Creating clothing lines based on popular toys is nothing new. With the success of Transformers T-Shirts and Bratz doll clothing and accessories, there is a huge market that includes children and adults who want to buy clothing pertaining to their favourite childhood toys. The Barbie® clothing line will be available in the fall of 2007 and Spring of 2008.
