It looks as though the t-shirt is here to stay. Made popular in the 1950's and 60's by actors and musicians, the t-shirt became a political statement in the 1980's when UK fashion designer Katharine Hamnett added pop culture phrases made popular by the punk rock music scene. These days T-Shirts are worn in many different ways. While the printed t-shirt continues to have lasting success online, Blank T-Shirts can be worn under suit jackets, dresses, and by themselves to create a casual, but pulled together look."The T-shirt is the answer to all this unpredictable weather as it can look on-trend yet keep you warm. It's versatile too, looking great with jeans, trousers or city shorts - and can be worn for both day and evening wear," said Laura Wilton, a stylist from Edinburgh.
There are many ways to wear a t-shirt. Printed t-shirts can be worn with jeans or slacks and are meant to offer commentary and humour. Layering T-Shirts is another popular way that people can wear them. Since many designers are producing thinner shirts, layering two or three and wearing them underneath a jacket or with a skirt is a great way to dress up on the weekends.
"The beauty of the T-shirt is that it is such a versatile piece to have in your wardrobe. T-shirts can be worn with jeans, under suit jackets, with pretty summer skirts, or under dresses - the possibilities are endless. T-shirt dresses have been huge this summer because they're so versatile. They can be worn alone with flip-flops on holiday or over jeans with boots when it's raining," said Fiona Huntingford, a stylist at stylest-ruck.com.
