Ethnic World Retail, Ltd., which sells mostly men's clothing including T-Shirts, trousers, dress shirts, and traditional outfits including Jodpuris, is planning to open five hundred outlet stores throughout India by next year and another five hundred by the year 2010. This will help the company expand its reach and increase profits. The company exports its clothing to other countries include UK, Australia, and US. It receives 20% of its profits by exporting clothing. The company already operates eighty stores in north India and is making plans to expand into the south. "We are going to open first retail store in Hyderabad's Banjara Hills area in the next 20-30 days," said Managing Director, Pramod Nagpal. The reason for the expansion is due to increase in demand from consumers.
This demand is due, in part, to India's growing economy. As many other retailers from other countries relocated their manufacturing plants to small towns in India, consumerism has grown in many areas. The need for modern clothing and traditional clothing has also increased. After creating its brand in north India and by exporting clothing to other countries, the company feels it is ready to expand to other regions within India.
In addition to opening new retail outlets, Ethnic World Retail is also the official garment supplier of the Indian Olympic Association.
