For years, Tiger Woods has worn Polo Shirts from Nike when playing various courses around the world. But recently he asked that the arm length be shortened about an inch and a half so he would be more comfortable. Nike complied and the public got to see Wood's muscular biceps as he played his round on the Oakmont course last week. Woods tied for second against Jim Furyk. "He felt like it would be a little more comfortable for him when he was playing. What we've heard from him is that he's more comfortable with his sleeves," said Nike golf apparel division merchandise manager, Mitzi MacCallum.Woods has also changed the size of his Polo Shirts from large to medium over the past few months. "Originally he was wearing larges from us, but he switched to a medium several months ago," MacCallum said. These changes are for more than just physical appeal. Being as comfortable as possible when playing a round of golf is different for everyone, even for famous golfers like Tiger Woods.
Because there is intense pressure on golfers to play well, they usually choose clothing that helps keep them dry and cool throughout the day. Polo Shirts made from Nike Dri-Fit fabrics helps wick away sweat and keep it from clinging to the skin. Woods and other golfers and athletes trust Dri-Fit while golfing, training, or participating in other sports activities.
Woods also wore a slim fitting mock turtleneck, which was made with seams that don't irritate the skin after being worn all day long. These shirts are available to the public and have been added permanently to Wood's golf wardrobe.
