Children who will be starting at the Samworth Enterprise Academy in Leicester, UK in September will be receiving school uniforms as a way to welcome them to their new school and also as a way to promote their uniform policy. The colours and designs were decided on by the students and their parents, while the logo was designed by the students."All pupils who are starting in September will be getting the basic items of the school uniform free. This is to celebrate the opening and so that they all look part of the academy from their first day. The focus of the academy is business and enterprise, so we will be working with parents over the next year to decide whether we want to introduce a jacket or blazer for pupils from Year Nine upwards to give them a more businesslike look. We're also going to be focussing on healthy bodies for the children, so we will also give pupils a white T-shirt and PE shorts,” said principal Pat Dubas.
The Samworth Enterprise Academy will be replacing both the Southfield Infants School and the Newry Junior School. Parents of the children are pleased with the uniforms. "I think it's fantastic. It's cheaper for parents for kids to wear a uniform and I think it will help with discipline. With them all in uniforms they will look and feel like they all belong to the same school,” said one parent, Toni Wheat.
While the uniforms given to students are considered basic pieces, they will help curb the costs for parents. New uniforms will consist of blue Polo Shirts and Sweatshirts. Parents will have to buy trousers or skirts and other items their children may need for the school year.
