British Novelty Company, Thumbs Up, to Manufacture Transformer T-shirts

Securing the license to sell Transformers merchandise has meant big things for British novelty company Thumbs Up. “We were delighted that Hasbro awarded us the ‘Transformers the Movie’ license for our products. They were impressed with our unique and innovative technology and cutting edge designs. When we showed them the concepts, they were amazed! The team at Thumbs Up are very excited about the next few years, as we are set to take a revolutionary position in the gadget sector! Several major retail chains have already signed up to stock our Transformers lines, which will offer several unique selling points when compared to typical licensed items,” said company business development director, Wojtek Kolan.

The company will begin selling T-Shirts in conjunction with the opening of the Transformers movie that is coming out in July. While Transformers t-shirts have been on the market since the cartoon appeared in the early 80’s, these T-Shirts are special. Shirts that feature Autobot and Decepticon insignias have panels that light up. At recent screening of the movies footage, three company representatives showed up wearing the shirts. After the showing, they were bombarded with questions and interest. Since then, the company has received numerous requests for shirts.

The cartoon, which was very popular at the time, still has a lot of loyal fans. Empire magazine posted a message on their web site which read: “To the people in the light-up Transformers T-shirts: Where did you get those? We want them. Please email us.” The frenzy surrounding the T-Shirts is not likely to end soon, which will be very good for Thumb’s Up sales and also for the promotion of the new movie.
