PGA Golfers Try to Look Their Best

Friday 30th of March 2007 05:21:20 PM

PGA Golfers Try to Look Their BestFor many professional golfers, it is more than just playing well, it’s about looking good on the course. Since these golfers spend the majority of their time on the golf course, dressing appropriately usually means Polo Shirts and slacks, but each golfer puts their own spin on colour, fabric, and style. Johan Edfors, who is currently playing on the 2007 PGA tour likes to wear green, purple, white, or brown shirts with slacks. “On the golf course, I like to be colour-coordinated. It can get too much. You have to be careful to not overdo it,” said Edfors.

Other PGA tour golfers including Camilo Villegas, Aaron Baddeley, Luke Donald, and Adam Scott, each have their own fashion sense when it comes to playing the game. “If I'm competing, I want to look great and feel great, which means wearing something I am comfortable in. I've just started to wear a new technical line of apparel from Ralph Lauren called RLX Golf. The RLX clothes have great designs and are made of much more technical fabrics, which are amazing. They are cut close to the body and very light, which makes them comfortable to play in,” said Donald.

When asked why fashion was important, Villegas said, “I've always believed that feeling good about the way I look translates into playing good golf. For my fashion style and playing style, I just try to be myself and let it flow.” Golf has become much more of a spectator sport in recent years and golfers need to stand out in order to be noticed. This means wearing Polo Shirts and slacks that not only look good, but are comfortable to play in. “You always want to look classy, stylish on the course. You never want to wear an outfit that is so 'out there' that you actually look ridiculous, clownish,” said Baddeley.
