Using Clipart for T-shirt Printing

Tuesday 19th of January 2010 11:43:16 PM

Using Clipart for T-shirt PrintingFor small apparel printing businesses, investing in clipart software is a great way to offer more choices to customers without having to charge them extra for the design. Many people who own printing businesses are not artists, so this software is a great way to offer hundreds of design possibilities. Clipart programmes are a collection of artwork that has been granted permission by the artists to be used on clothing and accessories. Included in the software are CD’s that contain images, and a stock book that includes all the images. This makes it easy for customers to see what they are ordering.

Customers who place an order for T-Shirts, jackets, uniforms, Polo Shirts, or other items, will feel better about choosing an image they can see instead of having to describe it. Clipart programmes can be used on PC or Mac platforms and are compatible on Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and Adobe Photoshop. Once a design has been chosen, it can be uploaded from the CD onto the computer. For most programmes, looking up the image number in the stock book is necessary when trying to find it on the CD. Additional accents such as bold lettering, colours, fonts, and lines can be added to T-Shirts and other items.

While there are drawbacks to using clipart such as editing lines that don’t connect, over designing, and being able to promise originality on Polo Shirts and other items, many businesses use this technology and say their customers have been pleased with the results. While it is important to create what the customer wants, many times it is easy to go overboard. Business owners should experiment with an image until they get it right, but many times, adding too many accents can ruin a really good design.
