Finding quality shoes and other fun accessories wasn’t always easy in Royal Oaks, Michigan, USA until Nicole Sterling opened up a shoe boutique that sold shoes, T-Shirts, and other outer wear. “It was like we opened a candy store. It was amazing. The response was phenomenal. We've been doing great ever since, even with the way the economy is right now,” said Sterling.Business was so good that Sterling, along with family members, decided to open a second store in nearby Rochester, Michigan to see if they would receive the same response. They did and now both shops are very successful. In addition to shoes and T-Shirts, jeans, tunic tops, yoga wear, and other outfits are available. Sterling is very pleased that people wanted a shoe shop where they could buy designer inspired footwear and other items, but still save some money. “My goal is to look at what the high-end people are doing and find something that's a quarter of the price, that fits well and that's still comfortable,” said Sterling.
Now that both locations are open, Sterling spends some of her time at each shop, and also at a hair salon that she started fifteen years ago. “What I love about being here is seeing women's faces when they come in and the fact that they tell me they can't find this anywhere else,” said Sterling.
Running three shops can be hectic, so Sterling enlisted the help of her mother-in-law and her sister-in-law to help out. Each manages one of the shoe stores. The stores cater to those who are looking for quality shoes, T-Shirts, and other items. Private shoe parties can also be arranged complete with food and discount shoes sales. Supplying a long standing demand has made Nicole Sterling a town hero and a smart businesswoman.
