The Canadian rugby team, who had defeated the United States team in order to get into the playoffs last year, is donating a team jersey polo shirt signed by each of the players. The Vanier Senior Secondary rugby team, who has been tying to raise enough money to send all players to Europe to play in upcoming games, will raffle the shirt to those who attend their Trivia Night. The Vanier Senior Secondary rugby team has been trying to raise money by working odd jobs cutting wood, removing trash, and other manual labour jobs in order to pay for their trip. Trivia Nights have raised a lot of money in the past, so having jersey Polo Shirts signed by the Canadian rugby team will help raise even more money and awareness for the team.
“This is a very special jersey because it contains the names of some of Canada’s greatest players. When I told the Canada players that the Vanier players were working hard doing odd jobs, and holding Trivia Nights to raise money for their tour, the Canadian players were most impressed and gladly signed the jersey,” said Ian Kennedy, press officer for Rugby Canada.
Working odd jobs has paid off for the team in the past. They have raised over $50,000 already in order to pay for their trip to Ireland, Whales, and England, where they will play in four games. Having jersey Polo Shirts signed by a winning team like the Canadian rugby team will help them raise even more money. While getting all fifty players enough money to travel to Europe has not been easy, players have worked very hard and an endorsement from another team is greatly appreciated.
