Getting Into the T-shirt Manufacturing Business

Thursday 22nd of February 2007 11:16:20 PM

Getting Into the T-shirt Manufacturing BusinessA small uniform manufacturer in Sao Paulo, Brazil is expanding its business by manufacturing T-Shirts that are for men and sell them in Europe and Arab countries. The t-shirts will be made from materials that have to be imported to and constructed in a small textile mill in town. “There is only one fabric mill here in Pará, and the quality is not so great," he said. Manufacturing male T-shirts in a land with no textile tradition requires not only logistics, but also an enterprising spirit. I am still analysing the export market. I have spoken to trading companies and contacted Canadian importers,” said the director of Via Terra, Bruno Viera.

Even though the company is only producing ten thousand T-Shirts a month, it hopes to expand this number as interest in the shirts increase. Shirts will only be sold in Belem, and surrounding neighbourhoods where the company is located. From there, the company hopes to begin exporting shirts to other countries.

Because uniform sales are only profitable once a year, the company decided to broaden its manufacturing base and offer T-Shirts that are well made and trendy for those who will want to purchase them.

T-Shirts are made for men and boys and come in a variety of colours and styles. Keeping an eye on what is trendy is how the company decides what it will produce. “We always keep an eye out for what people wear in the soap operas, what the large manufacturers are doing, and what people wear in southern Brazil,” said Viera.

After investing money in equipment and materials, the company is now ready to begin its marketing campaign. The company plans on doubling the size of its current stock in order to meet the demands of those who like the T-Shirts.
