Creating T-shirts for Charity

Monday 19th of February 2007 05:34:05 PM

Creating T-shirts for CharityShikira is the twenty third performing artist to join the Hard Rock Café in its T-Shirts for charity campaign. Other artists including Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Eric Clapton, and Bruce Springsteen have already donated their time to design a signature t-shirt that is featured in all Hard Rock Café locations and on its web site. Artists choose a charity that they want to donate the proceeds to while the Hard Rock Café promotes the T-Shirts.

In the Hard Rock Café in Paris, France last week, Shakira presented her design, a guitar with flowers and a heart on Black T-Shirts. The proceeds from the sale of the shirts will to Shakira’s foundation, ‘Shakira’s Fundacion Pies Descalzos’, which helps children who are victims of violence in Columbia. The foundation works to provide children with medical care, housing, and other needs they may have, in addition to helping build schools and improve existing schools in impoverished areas.

Shakira is the second female performing artist to design a t-shirt for the Hard Rock Café, Stevie Nicks being the first. This is not the first time that Shakira has volunteered her time to a worthy cause, however.

T-Shirts designed by other performing artists have helped raise millions of dollars for their charities and also help build awareness of these charities and causes. Since many people visit Hard Rock Cafes all over the world, being able to sell t-shirts that help others is easy and a great way to give back to those who are less fortunate.
