NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson, 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion, and his wife Chandra, have created a commemorative t-shirt with the help of designers at the Levi Strauss Company. The T-Shirts will be used to raise money for the Jimmie Johnson foundation that was founded to help children and their families as well as communities that are in need. The foundation is celebrating its first anniversary and will sell the shirts online and at racetracks.Johnson said of those who have helped the foundation, “It has been amazing to watch my sponsors step to the plate to help with the foundation. These T-Shirts will be instrumental in spreading the word about the foundation. Our goal is to sell all of the T-shirts and raise over $100,000 for the foundation.” Levi Strauss donated 10,000 White T-Shirts for use by the foundation. Johnson will autograph the first ten T-Shirts that are sold. These shirts will hopefully fetch more than the fifteen dollars they will be sold for online.
Aaron Carpenter, vice president of marketing, Levi Strauss Signature brand said, “The Levi Strauss Signature brand is proud to support the efforts of Jimmie and Chandra, and honour the first anniversary of the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. By contributing to the Jimmie Johnson Foundation, the Levi Strauss Signature brand has furthered its commitment to Jimmie on and off the track.”
Money raised from the sale of the t-shirt will be used to complete a bowling alley at the Victory Junction Gang Camp. The project cost about $600,000 to complete, and so far, the foundation has raised a little more than half of what they need. T-shirt sales should give the foundation most of the money needed to complete the project.
The T-Shirts are white with the Jimmie Johnson logo featured on it. The mission statement is also featured.
