Blame It on the T-shirt

Thursday 08th of February 2007 11:11:20 PM

Blame It on the T-shirtA man caught driving recklessly through the streets of Whitehaven, UK was seen by several people wearing a yellow T-Shirt. These people saw two men, one wearing a yellow T-Shirts, driving passed parks, residential areas, and hitting walls and fences along the way. The man, Bryan Robert Cunningham, claims that he was not driving the car and that he traded shirts with the man who was actually driving the car after they crashed one last time and had to abandon the vehicle.

The local magistrate refused to believe that Cunningham had switched shirts and convicted him of a variety of charges including dangerous driving, banned driving, and failing to stop after an accident. Cunningham has a history of traffic violations and reckless driving.

Catching Cunningham was not an easy task, as he and the passenger he was with ran away from the car after it had crashed. Seven witnesses came forward to say that they reported seeing Cunningham and his yellow T-Shirts driving recklessly. One witness said of her encounter with Cunningham, “I didn’t want to get hit from behind so I pulled over; it overtook and went straight through a garden wall.” She mentioned to police that the suspect has a yellow t-shirt in his pocket.

Other witnesses that saw Cunningham hitting walls and driving erratically all over the road also claim he was wearing a yellow t-shirt.

Upon his arrest, Cunningham claimed he was wearing a Black T-Shirts and not a yellow one. He also claimed not to own the car. Police eventually tracked down who sold the car to Cunningham and verified that it was indeed his car.

Cunningham was arrested when a police officer spotted a man wearing a yellow T-Shirts trying to enter the home of a friend. Cunningham was arrested shortly after leaving the home.
