People in the county of Riverside have been feeling the chill as the weather has been turning progressively colder. Many are rushing out to buy warmer items of clothing as well as new heating appliances. Many heating companies are being called out to fix broken heaters and air-conditioning and are having trouble keeping up with the demand. The surge in the cold weather has also encouraged people to buy warm clothing such as Sweatshirts for their pets. Linda Smith who is the lead stocker for Petsmart in Hemet said that every fifth customer was enquiring about animal clothing and, that they had completely sold out of Sweatshirts. She added, “Most people are looking for warm Sweatshirts and coats, and we also sell those little boots, everybody’s concerned about keeping their pets warm.”
Many shops had been concerned about the lack of sales in the clothing area but these now seem to be picking up because of the sudden cold snap. In some shops, there were a distinct lack of winter coats and jumpers to be had although hats and scarves were still available. Snow is also expected in some areas, which also helps boost sales for any clothing retailers. Many experts recommend wearing several layers of clothing so that you do not overheat if the weather suddenly decides to change. Tescos in the UK has also noticed a rise in the sale of cashmere Sweatshirts with sales of these reaching 500,000 over the holidays. Tescos have been selling these at a lower price of thirty-five pounds compared with Marks and Spencer’s sixty-nine pounds. Marks and Spencer’s plc ltd are said to be the UK’s leading clothing retailer.
