
There are a growing number of consumers that are choosing to shop at resale shops for barely used maternity and children’s clothing, and baby gear. These are sold at prices lower than those at major retailers are. Many of these types of shops sell their clothing at third of the normal retail prices. The stores generally attract moms and dads or anyone else who wants to benefit from the lower prices. These stores such as the Salvation Army Superstore are attracting customers from all different socio-economic backgrounds. Bill Binder has owned the store Once Upon a Time for three years and he said that his business has grown around 30 percent over last year. He believes in a "hands-on" policy where he rejects any clothing that is stained or worn. Many of these types of stores also sell many different brand-named clothing such as Abercrombie and Fitch. Resale shops are now one of the biggest growing segments of the retail industry and it is growing at a rate of five per cent each year.
Mothers who have children that like to wear brand name T-Shirts can find reduced price clothing in resale shops. Some apparel and baby items are brand new, unopened and in its original packaging. Some clothing items may still have the original tags attached. One shopper, Sue Downey said about the recently opened store Kids Again "They have wonderful quality, and items are cheap." The store is also designed to be child friendly. For parents who cannot afford brand name clothing and other products, resale stores are a great way to find these items at cheap affordable prices.
